Endoscopic insertion No incisions or scars
For patients who do not have that much weight to lose
A silicon balloon (Intragastric balloon, BIB) is placed via the mouth into the stomach and inflated. The position is then checked with the endoscope and the inflation tube then removed. The normal volume of the stomach is 1.5 l. The volume of the balloon is 0.5 l. The Intra-gastric Balloon makes you feel full after only a little food. The balloon has to be removed after 6 months, also with an endoscope.
The intragastric balloon is suitable for people who:
Need to lose 7 15 kg
Want a temporary solution
Do not want to or cannot undergo surgery
|
Following removal of the intra-gastric balloon 6 months later, up to 40% will remain at the reduced weight. The intra-gastric balloon is performed under sedation and the procedure costs about $GD 4,500. |
